Vice President Leni Robredo is the people’s best choice to replace former DSWD secretary Judy Taguiwalo, whose confirmation was snubbed by the Commission on Appointments, according to a social media poll created by die-hard Duterte supporter Mocha Uson.
The result sounds convincing, but not to social media experts and web developers who monitor and analyze social media traffic, especially Facebook and Twitter.
On August 17, a twitter poll created by Mocha Uson went online, and Robredo came on top with 16,432 votes. Robredo got 81{47e4c95680cfa2693b2ea057e1d49de8a9784adc5ecdd3d3a10cec10371d16ef}, followed by DWSD undersecretary Lorraine Badoy with a shocking 6{47e4c95680cfa2693b2ea057e1d49de8a9784adc5ecdd3d3a10cec10371d16ef}.
Data Media Enterprises, a Makati-based IT and web-development company, noticed some abnormalities on the poll.
Software Engineer Julius Braganza of DME noticed that more than half of Robredo’s votes came from only around 400 IP addresses.
This means that only 400 people voted for Robredo multiple times.
Braganza also noticed that the surge of Robredo’s votes happened between 2 to 4 AM Thursday – the time that Internet connection was at its fastest.
DME said it was highly possible that those 400 individuals, or accounts who voted for the VP were paid.
Robredo on Sunday thanked Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson for including her name on the list of options to replace Taguiwalo. /Jonjie Saavedra/
