Parents Mindy and Rob Seay from Alaska were excited to meet their new baby. But sad to say, their first meeting was not happy as they expected it to be.
Apparently, their baby named Lincoln was diagnosed with severe heart defects when Mindy was 20 weeks pregnant. Shortly after their son’s birth, baby Lincoln needed open surgery to install a shunt that would keep him alive.
But on Lincoln’s third month, he needed a heart transplant inorder to survive. Rob left his job and relocated his family to be nearer to Seattle Children’s Hospital. He said: ‘I refused to let my family suffer.’
‘I made sure that every action I made was intentionally directed towards giving them the support they needed,’ Rob added.
Baby Lincoln’s condition was getting worse and his family was getting more desperate. After two episodes of cardiac arrest, the baby is about to receive a new heart.
But while preparing for surgery, Lincoln’s heart stopped and he died. However, his doctors did not give up. They opened up Lincoln’s chest as fast as they could, manually compressed his heart, and successfully connected him to a heart bypass machine. The delicate surgery only took doctors 12 minutes, taking Lincoln’s weak body into consideration. It was a miracle.
The doctors, staff, donor, and everybody who helped in saving Lincoln deserved to be praised and thanked. But Mindy has one hero: Rob, her husband.
While Mindy and their baby were in the hospital, her husband did everything from shopping to sending the children to school, not to mention cooking, cleaning, and doing the laundry!
According to Mindy: ‘I could not imagine getting through this without Rob’s support.
‘He gives his all to our family and he often sacrifices his own needs to take care of ours.’
