A backhoe, also called a rear actor or back actor, is a piece of excavating equipment or digger consisting of a digging bucket on the end of a two-part articulated arm.
In this two-minute video, an 8-year old Ifugao girl named Aubrey Ayan operates a backhoe has gone viral. It will be seen that Aubrey, who is very girly with her pink shirt easily operated a backhoe and really likes playing with heavy equipment. Aubrey successfully maneuvered the heavy equipment to dig and transport the soil from the ground to a loading truck.
Some people assumed that Aubrey was being forced to work instead of being sent to school. But contrary to what some assumed, Aubrey does go to school, and competing for honors in her class. She dreams of being an engineer someday.
Her father Kim, who works in construction says Aubrey rides her bicycle to their construction site after school to learn and play with the backhoe.
Meanwhile, Aubrey’s mother Ligaya Rose also shares that instead of playing with dolls, Aubrey prefers playing with boys’ toys including, apparently, construction
This video shared almost 3,000 times and got almost 150,000 views on the Facebook page “The Igorot.”
