MANILA – Humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) teams from the Philippine Army (PA) on Thursday demonstrated their capabilities before a high-level Thai defense delegation.
In a statement on Friday, PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said the teams were from the 525th Combat Engineer Battalion (525ECBn), one of the PA's lead units in rescue and disaster response operations.
Visiting the country were officials of Thailand's Ministry of Defense (MOD) led by Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defense Gen. Tharapong Malakam.
"During the visit, Gen. Malakam and the high-level Thai MOD delegation witnessed the 525CEBn's display of capabilities in a range of HADR operations," Dema-ala said.
The demonstration took place at the PA headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Dema-ala said the visit of the Thai MOD delegation was in connection with the conduct of the 5th Philippines-Thailand Joint Committee on Military Cooperation Meeting hosted by the Department of National Defense.
"The said meeting reaffirms the two Armies' bilateral relations and will include discussions on future collaborations and promote military cooperation," Dema-ala said.
The Thai delegation also visited the Philippine Army Museum and was briefed on the rich 128-year history of the PA. (PNA)
