DAVAO CITY – Police here confiscated PHP6.4 million worth of illegal drugs in August, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) reported Tuesday.
In a report, acting DCPO chief Col. Mannan Muarip said 168 anti-drug operations resulted in the arrest of 190 suspects and the seizure of 2,764.8 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and 906.02 grams of marijuana.
A total of 219 drug-related cases were filed in court, demonstrating DCPO's aggressive stance against illegal drug activities.
"DCPO remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard the city with utmost sincerity, integrity, and dedication," Muarip said in a news release.
During the same period, Muarip said a total of 185 were apprehended through intensified manhunt operations, including 69 most wanted persons and 116 other wanted individuals.
For anti-illegal gambling, 57 operations were conducted, wherein 63 individuals were arrested and PHP19,724 in bet money was confiscated.
"These operations resulted in the filing of 57 cases in court, curbing the proliferation of illegal gambling in various communities," Muarip said.
The DCPO also conducted 32 operations targeting loose firearms, leading to the arrest of 11 individuals and the confiscation of 14 firearms.
"These achievements underscore the importance of sustained collaboration and trust between the police and the public," Muarip said. (PNA)
