BUTUAN CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) here has approved 31 civil society organizations (CSOs) for eligibility to join the local special bodies (LSBs) of the city government.
The accreditation was made through the approval of Resolution 17-087-2025, authored by Councilor Ferdinand Nalcot, during the City Council's regular session on Tuesday.
Among the accredited CSOs, 13 are from the farmers and fisherfolk sectors, three are homeowners' associations, two each from the transportation and academic sectors, and the senior citizens sector, while the rest come from various other sectors across the city.
"The accreditation process is part of the city's commitment to strengthening participatory governance by involving CSOs in local planning and decision-making," the council said in a statement on Wednesday.
Accredited CSOs may join LSBs, such as the local development council, the local health board, and the local school board.
"The accreditation of the CSOs reflects the city government's ongoing efforts to broaden civic engagement and ensure diverse representation in local governance," the council added. (PNA)
