MANILA – De La Salle University downed College of Saint Benilde, 25-21, 27-29, 31-29, 25-21, to remain unbeaten in the 2025 V-League Collegiate Challenge at Paco Arena in Manila on Sunday.
Chris Emmanuel Hernandez starred for the Green Spikers with 21 points, 19 receptions and 10 digs, powering La Salle to a 3-0 record alongside University of Santo Tomas.
Glen Rui Ventura added 17 points off 13 attacks, three blocks and one ace, while Issa Ousseini and Eugene Gloria chipped in 12 and 11 points respectively for the Green Spikers, who needed two hours and 16 minutes to claim victory.
Benilde fell to its second straight loss and will try to bounce back against Ateneo de Manila on Aug. 24.
"I said a while ago, every opponent that we're facing, we're really not doing anything special to prepare. It's just that we're focusing on how we're going to become consistent," La Salle coach Jose Roque said.
La Salle will next face NCAA Season 100 runner-up Letran on Aug. 23.
NCAA Most Valuable Rocky Roy Motol carried the fight for the Blazers, with 19 points, 14 receptions and seven digs, while Reymark Betco added 13 points on 12 attacks.
Mike Adrian chipped in seven points, including two service aces.
Meanwhile, Letran snapped a two-game skid with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-17 win over Arellano.
Maximuz Paolo Lopez led with 10 points, while Vince Himzon and Dave Thomas Lardizabal added nine points each as the Knights improved to 1-2, tying UAAP five-peat champion National University in fourth place.
"It's fun because this is what the players want, too. You can see that it's not just the coaching staff who wants it, but also the players. They deserve the win today against Arellano," Letran coach Brian Esquibel said after the one-hour and 20-minute sweep.
"I always remind them that every training or every time there is a game, they need to be consistent because that is what was lacking in our past tournaments."
CJ Dominguito scored nine points while Arman Clarence Guinto and Jiwen Sinuto contributed seven and six points, respectively for winless Arellano. (PNA)
