Noven Belleza, a rice farmer from Negros Occidental was the grand champion of the rebooted “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” on Saturday, March 11, defeating other favorites Sam Mangubat and Froilan Canlas.
Noven has won the hearts of the audience and the judges with his heartfelt performance of Air Supply Medley — “Now And Forever,” “The One That You Love” and “Without You.”
Air Supply, an Australian soft rock duo consisting of singer-songwriter and guitarist Graham Russell and lead vocalist Russell Hitchcock found Noven’s version of their hits amazing.
Graham Russell, the singer-songwriter, congratulated Noven for his win through an email sent to Danee Samonte, a local concert organizer and one of the producers of the recent Air Supply concert in the Philippines.
Graham wrote: “I just saw the singing contest on YouTube and the guy that won. He was spectacular. Please pass on my congratulations to him if you would!”
Everyone was touched by Noven’s determination to pull his family out of poverty. When asked what he plans to do with his prize money, Noven said: “Una po, sa pamilya ko po talaga, sa mga kapatid ko para po mabago ko rin ang buhay nila. At sa magulang ko rin po kasi hindi ko na rin po gustong makita sila na naghihirap kaka-trabaho sa tanda nila.”
