LOOK! Are we going to have a new VP soon? Comelec begins decryption, printing of ballot images from contested precincts

The Commission on Elections has begun printing of ballot images from the three provinces identified by the Vice Presidential electoral protest of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The beginning of the process prompted after the Supreme Court acting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) gave a go signal.

The Comelec started the decryption process or the transmission of ballot images or ballot images from its encrypted format (not readable) to decrypted format (image image) to read.

The ballots from the 3 pilot provinces selected by BBM – Camarines Sur, Iloilo and Negros Oriental have been decryption process.

After the decryption process will be followed by the printing of decrypted ballot images.
Once the printed ballot images are captured it will be reviewed individually to see if there is a difference in the number of machines and manual numbers, and if there are other anomalies to appear on these pictures of the ballots.

The review of all the pictures of the ballots will take around 4 weeks.

“We are glad that the case is finally moving forward because each step forward is a step closer to the truth,” said Victor Rodriguez, Marcos’ spokesperson.

Rodriguez also claims that VP Leni Robredo’s camp attempted to postpone the scheduled decryption and only brought two revisors.

However, the Comelec denied the said accusation against Robredo’s camp.

“What are they [Robredo camp] afraid of? If they believe she won, they should be rushing to count the ballots so that this issue could finally be laid to rest, in her favor. Instead, they have adopted a strategy of delay and obfuscation,” Rodriguez said.
