Detained Senator Leila De Lima was rushed to hospital on Thursday morning following a massage chair accident inside the Camp Crame PNP Custodial Center.
Initial report says the lady senator was lying on one of two massage chairs at around 7:00AM, when the equipment malfunctioned crushing the bones of De Lima’s right calf.
Doctors inside PNP-Camp Crame General Hospital performed emergency surgery to prevent blood from flowing over her broken leg.
The incident is very rare according to technology provider Sit N’ Relax and is the first time in their company’s 16-year history.

“We have been operating in Malls like SM and Robinsons with hundreds of these equipment but this is the first time we experience this type of problem’, Sit N’ Relax product manager told authorities.
Police said there is also a possibility of sabotage as the sensor that controls the leg grip was disconnected, allowing the machine to maximize its leg grip.
Several witnesses who found the senator in excruciating pain said she was crying while being carried on the stretch air as it took the rescuers 5-minute to unclamp the machine from her legs.
“Sobrang naawa ako kay Senator, halos hindi ako makatingin nong nakita ko ang butong nakausli sa paa niya”, P/Inspector Melania dela Guardia, the first officer who found de Lima said.
