Duterte wants return PNPclassical ranks: “Hindi ko maintindihan talaga ‘yang putang inang SP, SP na ‘yan.”

President Rodrigo Duterte is asking Police Chief Director General Bato dela Rosa to do one thing about the present Philippine National Police rank system as a result of he couldn’t make heads or tails about it.

In a speech Monday, Duterte complained: “Hindi ko maintindihan talaga ‘yang putang inang SP, SP na ‘yan.” “Sabi ko kay sa Crame, “Sinong gumawa niyang heneral nang leche na ‘yan?” SP01, hindi ko ma-relate kung anong.. — anong rango itong yawa na ito? SP02, SP03, wala, ‘di ba wala akong concept,” he added.

Based on the PNP rank system since 2009, non-commissioned officers are designated as: Police Officer 1 (PO1) is equal to a Private First Class in the navy; Police Officer 2 (P02) is identical as a corporal; Police Officer three (PO3) is a Sergeant; Senior Public Officer 1 (SPO1) is a Staff Sergeant; Senior Public Officer 2 (SPO2) is a Technical Sergeant; Senior Public Officer three (SPO3) is a Master Sergeant; and an Senior Public Officer four (SPO4) is a Chief Master Sergeant.

Duterte mentioned the PNP ought to return to the classical nomenclature to make police ranks extra comprehensible to the public.

“Kaya sabi ko, ‘Bumalik kayo’. Kasimple noon, kasi sanay tayo. Police First Class, Police Patrolman, Police Corporal, Police Sergeant, Police Lieutenant, Captain Major, Lt. Colonel Police, General,” mentioned Duterte. “Kaya sabi ko, ‘yung mga bobo na dumaan diyan, kung ano-anong pinaggagawa para lang may trabaho. Para siguro maggastos lang ng…. Tang ina. Do not tinker with the organized system,” he added.
