Charice Pempengco is a Filipino singer who rose to popularity through YouTube.
Charice and her live-in partner Alyssa quijano, who have been in a relationship for four years have called it quits. This was exclusively confirmed by Carl Cabral, Charice’s handler in a text message sent to ABS-CBN News.
According to Cabral: “Yes, Charice and Alyssa have broken up and it was a mutual decision,” said Cabral, before adding: “Charice is not accepting any interviews and now taking a break. He’s doing fine and he’s happy. Thank you very much.”
Rumors about break up began after Pilipino Star Ngayon reported that Alyssa was seen leaving the apartment of the “Pyramid” hitmaker carrying packed bags last week.
The tabloid’s source went on to say that Charice is currently staying with a friend in Laguna following the rift — a claim that Cabral vehemently dismissed. “The rumor that Charice is living with the fan is not true. He has bought his own house,” he said.
The breakup appears to come at a troubling time for Charice, who took a temporary break from showbiz last March. On his Twitter account, the singer described himself as “tired” before writing: “I can’t anymore. I’m over it.”
His scheduled March 24 concert, where he was supposed to formally apologize to his fans for leaving the limelight, was cancelled soon after.
Charice and Alyssa first admitted their relationship back in 2013. After celebrating their anniversary last year, the two said they were already talking about having a child and getting married.
