Veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez has been in the business for over 20 years. She has portrayed a variety of roles with the most common being mother roles or the villain roles. She has four children with husband Art Atayde — Arjo, Ria, Gela and Xavi.
The Atayde family has this lovely home in an exclusive hilly subdivision in Quezon City. This new home, according to Ria, also means “a new beginning for the family.”
Before acquiring this home, Sylvia’s wish was for her dream house to have a huge garden. Sylvia explained: “Garden, kasi alam ko tatanda ako.
“So gusto ko paggising ko, andun na ako magpapainit.
“‘Tapos, doon na rin ako pagdating naman ng hapon.
“‘Tapos, ayan na, dadating na iyong mga apo ko, andun na kami sa garden, naghahabulan.”
But seeing her family now, the Greatest Love actress said she realized that she didn’t really need a huge garden anymore.
According to Sylvia: “Ngayon, na-realize ko na kahit walang garden ang bahay ko, dito lang kami sa sala nagtatawanan, okay na ako…
“Basta sa akin, komportable lang, malapit sa mall, malapit sa bilihan, okay na ako doon.”
Describing her home, Sylvia told YES!, “Simple. Simpleng elegante.”
The floor-to-ceiling shelves hold her collection of porcelain art figurines, which she and members of the family buy abroad.
The look of Sylvia’s kitchen as as if “it was built for a cooking show on TV.”
